Benefits of Organic Farming


In one of the longest study ever conducted on organic farmingpractices, farming is done by the Rodale Institute based in the U.S. have found that organic soil management not onlyminimizes the use of fossil fuels, but also reduces carbon dioxidein the atmosphere by eliminating from the air and store it ascarbon in the soil. Scientists at the institute estimated that iforganic practices such as planting cover crops, composting,crop rotation and 3.5 billion applied to arable land on this planet,about 40 percent of current CO2 emissions can be absorbed.

A farmer can feed up to 30 people throughout the year with a1-acre vegetable sayuranm fruits, cereals, and fats. When the same area used to produce eggs, milk or meat, the number of people can be fed varies from 5 to 10 people.
